NASA Names Asteroid After Young Egyptian Genius
After taking top prize at last year’s Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, 17-year-old Yasmin Yehia Moustafa has been immortalised by NASA; an asteroid that was first seen in 2000, now bears the name of the young student from a STEM school in Maadi.

Moustafa’s project dealt with deriving energy from rice straw, potentially using something generally discarded to help abate the country's pollution and growing energy crisis.

At the time, the CEO of Intel Egypt said that her scientific achievement should be regarded as a triumph for the Egyptian people as well.
