Egyptian Students Win Best Design At World Robot Conference

Egyptians believe the education system is in need of an overhaul, and although that may be true, Egyptians have reason to be proud as a team of primary and preparatory school students just won the prize for best robot design at an international competition in Beijing.

Organised by the World Robot Olympiad; The World Adolescent Robot Conference 2015 welcomed participants from as many as 16 different countries and 145 specialised institutions. Competing for a variety prizes, the Egyptian team of six managed to achieve their very first win at the competition, taking home the prize for Best Robotic Design. Making up the team of bright minds is Seif Soeilam, Omar el Saied, Youssef Mohy, Moaz Nabil, and their team coach/fellow student Ahmed Atef.

This is not Egypt’s first time taking part in this event, as an Egyptian team has competed in each instalment for over the past five years; however this marks their first win. The team already plans to participate in 2016 in a bid to retain their title.

It isn’t everyday that Egyptian students are awarded for scientific innovations, and hopefully this team’s efforts will inspire further students to pursue science and eventually usher in a wave of technological experts that Egypt sorely needs.
