Egypt's First Carnival for Entrepreneurs is Hitting the Greek Campus

It’s an unspoken fact, yet well-known: social startups, as the non-conformist gamechangers they are, are not always your typical startup. So what happens when they set off to gather, network, and exchange success stories? They don’t get on stage, mic in hand, under a blinding spotlight to talk numbers to the crowds. No. They organise a carnival.

That’s what Egypt´s social entrepreneurship giants Ashoka Arab World, Nahdet El Mahrousa, and Misr El Kheir’s GESR are setting off to do next Saturday November 26th. The impact hubs are taking The Greek Campus by storm, using the Downtown hot spot as the fabric of a colourful canvas where sparking change through business and innovating for social good are all part of the game.

The carnival is an offspring of the newly-established Egyptian Social Innovation Cluster, founded by seven partners; Misr El Kheir Foundation and its program GESR – who last year brought Nobel prize winner Muhammad Yunus to Cairo; the German University in Cairo (GUC); Assiut University; Hubconcepts Inc.; المركز المصرى لتقدم العلوم والتكنولوجيا والابتكار - Ecasti; bidX; and TICO ALAZHAR.

Showcasing a wide array of innovative and socially-conscious startups, the event will also feature global case studies, and an interactive session to explore the legal framework of social innovation in Egypt.
