The New Egyptian Brand Making Vintage Dope Again

Vintage pieces have truly made a comeback in the last couple of years, but it’s not always easy to know where to look, as these aren’t pieces you can simply go pick up at the mall. With their brand Kvell, Laura Toedt and Mahmoud El Dallash have turned their love for digging out unique vintage pieces into a successful business by making it easier for you to rock that 80's silk shirt swag, among other vintage looks.“We both come from a design background and work in the field; Mahmoud studied Interior Design while Laura studied Graphic Design, so both of us are interested in anything related to design, so naturally we were very interested in fashion and its history as well, and that’s kind of where the inspiration for the brand started”, explained Laura and Mahmoud, founders of Kvell. But to them, their love for vintage clothes is more than just a business. “Vintage clothes have a unique history – each item is different, and from a different time, which makes it unique. You won’t find a certain piece a second time again somewhere else. And this is what we like about vintage, seeing a shirt or blouse with huge shoulder pads and instantly knowing “ah this is from the 80’s” or seeing a specific pattern and thinking “that’s so 90’s”.If you’re anything like us, you’re probably wondering where all these original, sometimes even funky pieces come from. “We have our suppliers who get tons of second hand, vintage clothes in containers from Europe and, once they get them, they give us a call and we immediately pay them a visit and start curating each item”, said Laura. In other words, they got the plug.
