Stache is the Local Brand Giving Basics Some TLC

Already spotted on the likes of rock band Cairokee’s drummer Tamer Hashem and social media queen Enjy Kiwan, Stache is the local brand coming in hot with an affinity for basics. While the word ‘basic’ is often associated with a slew of negative connotations (like ‘basic girl’, ‘basic pop music’, ‘basic flavours’, ‘basic b-’... well anyway), the fact is, you need the basics, they’re foundational, that’s WHY they’re basic. And what else is going to set your basics apart from the rest besides high quality fabrics - and, asks Stache founder Estabrak Fouad, what higher quality fabric would you need besides Egyptian cotton?

While Egyptian cotton is rightly popular across the globe for being finer, more durable, and softer, it’s also much more expensive. As a result, those looking for a quick, affordable shirt or two aren’t likely to reach for Egyptian cotton. “I was studying cotton for a year before starting the brand,” Fouad tells SceneStyled. “It comes as a surprise to many, but most of what people market as Egyptian cotton is not true Egyptian cotton.” That’s something that Stache hopes to change locally, bringing real high quality and weaving it into a more accessible selection of products.
