Kijaqo's Athleisure Line Makes Tracks on Cairo's Fashion Scene
Launched at the end of October 2020, just a week ago, Kijaqo (pronounced kee-yako) has stepped on to the Cairo fashion scene, introducing itself with a name that intentionally means nothing, and showing us that underneath a seemingly minimal exterior there can still exist a world of meaning.

The brand was founded by Khaled El Masry, a young advertising professional. He wanted something that would allow him to practice his creativity and follow his whims, free from the restrictions put on him by his clients and his work.

“I wanted to create something very comfortable that still emits an air of luxury. There’s a huge demand in our market for that, and yet not a lot of supply,” El Masry tells CairoScene. “My target customer is someone who knows what athleisure is, and is interested in a high quality product. I have my specific niche audience. My objective is to create a community, not just to sell a lot.”

Despite its young age, the brand has already reached over a million accounts organically on social media and has received over 300 orders. Their tasteful, minimal designs, built on a pastel palette, appears to have attracted quite a lot in very little time.

Building on that boost in outreach, the young brand plans to expand to the GCC within the month, having already received preorders from abroad from their first venture, ‘The Collab Collection,’ which was released with the help of makeup artist Sharrif Tanyous. Soon, the brand will be entering multibrand stores, but until then, you can shop their designs at kijaqo.com
