Easy Breezy Summer Dresses with Daddy's Girl

When their father passed away, Nour and Farah El Gebali were forced to shut down his business after 30 years of service in the fashion industry. “It hit me particularly hard. He was my best friend,” Nour El Gebali tells #CairoScene. “I helped him out at work ever since I was 16. Our family was going through depression. Eventually, we realised we wanted to do something to keep his memory alive. I was going to pass on his skills and passions.”

The two sisters founded fashion label ‘Daddy’s Girl’ after reopening their father’s factory and rehiring all the employees that had been on his payroll. A family business through and through their mother also helps with the manufacturing.

The designs themselves are everything you’d want from a summer capsule wardrobe: airy, ethereal and flowy. Whether you’re taking a walk along any one of Egypt’s azure beaches, planning a beachside al fresco dinner, or simply spending a morning running errands on Cairo’s sizzling streets, any one of their lilac linen sets, neutral satin sundresses, and speckled beach cover ups are the pinnacle of everything summer, minimalistic, and undeniably cool. In a nod to the brand’s namesake, the colour palette was chosen from the El Gebali sisters' father’s favourite tones with the resulting collection treading the line between simple and style-statement.

You can purchase their prices at their two Sahel locations at Almaza Bay or Lakeyard at Hacienda Bay, or from their Instagram at @daddysgirl.eg, with 10% of proceeds going to orphanage charity organization @lebaladna.
