Double A's Handcrafted Leather is All About Rebellious Flair

Leather. It’s one of the few natural materials that effortlessly commands attention to its sleek, edgy appearance. A good leather jacket doesn’t only add panache to your look, it’s a timeless piece that acts as a cross-generational heirloom that appears again and again in popular trends. Double A is one of the few brands in Egypt that solely focuses on natural leather clothing all year long.

Founded by sisters Aliaa and Ayah Aboutera, Double A was inspired by their father, who launched a leather manufacturing business in 1977 and has since passed down his comprehensive experience to them. Carrying on the family legacy, every single piece from Double A is 100% natural leather, making their handmade designs incredibly durable. From leather cutting to studs insertions and leather-fringe shredding, the entire production process is done by Egyptian hands.

Their business model also positions them as a zero-water brand. By constantly reinventing waste minimization initiatives, including reusing leftover leather cutouts, they give their material a second life.

Double A’s newest collection, ‘Winter Frost’, is inspired by nature and its boundless colours, with garments that exude femininity and confidence in equal measure. “The message we want to send to women is that they are powerful enough to change the world,” Aliaa Aboutera tells SceneStyled. “What we try to do is to create designs that match this idea and more importantly make women feel something, whether it is to feel prepared for a big event, confident on a first date or comfortable in their own skin.” Much like their previous collections, ‘Winter Frost’ doubles down on this ethos, this time with a spectrum of earthy tones including aegean blue, lime green, ash brown and blush pink. Paired with tassels and studs arranged in flowery shapes, the collection’s pieces embody a sense of feminine freedom and empowerment.
