Art By Parts - The Story of Deuodatus

Built with the intent of coalescing art with sustainability, local brand Deuodatus is completely altering the way we perceive jewellery. Through combining miscellaneous objects with precious metals, artist, CEO, and founder of Deuodatus Marina Ashraf showcases the ease with which you can make seemingly mundane everyday scraps into something truly extraordinary.

“Deuodatus is an ancient Greek name that means ‘Divine Gift’,” Ashraf tells SceneStyled. “The logo is a circle with a dot in its centre. This particular image is a symbol of spiritual energy. The circle or the halo is a divine spirit, surrounding a seed, or dot, of potential for change and new perspectives. The icon refers to a divine gift, with a vision full of different scopes, observing the world around us with  new dimensions and perspectives as a way of life.”

Whilst art can - objectively speaking - mean a myriad of different things for people, the most common connotation art tends to embody is the ‘arbiter of self-expression’. To Ashraf, her jewellery line is meant to truly push the notion of art to its fullest logical extent. “Rather than approaching art as an end in itself, I perceive art as a valuable means of communication and a catalyst to view the surrounding world and build new perspectives,” Ashraf says, essentially turning art into a mediator of meaning.

The multidisciplinary concept-driven brand’s pieces truly speak for themselves. Pertaining to Ashraf’s artistic vision, the globular and ornamental aspects of the pieces really channel that avant-garde and perspective-altering side of Deuodatus.
