Foods We're Excited to Eat Again After Ramadan

Although we tend to eat a lot during Ramadan, there are a lot of foods that we skip. We decided to take one step closer to all the foods we missed during Ramadan, and dove into the reasons why we didn't have much of them during the holy month. Now that Ramadan is coming to an end, we welcome all the following foods with open arms.

There's nothing quite like aklet samak during Eid

KOSHARI

The staple Egyptian food made of rice, lentils, macaroni, hummus, and topped with marinara was not a choice during Ramadan because most koshari stores shut down during the holy month. Now that they’re about to open again, who is ready to live their best koshari life with us?

AKLET SAMAK

Who wants to have their fingers smell like fish for days? We reckon that we skipped a proper fish feast during Ramadan because we were not drawn to the "zafara" during iftar. Fret not, fish is making a grand comeback during Eid Al-Fitr.

SUSHI

A pricey option for food, sushi is usually consumed during open bar sessions so that we can binge on sushi as much as we'd like. We weren’t able to convince our friends to tag along because they were too full on mahshi but it’s Eid now so khalas it’s totally sorted.

Slurping season, comethru

NOODLES

The Chinese cuisine as a whole was brushed to the side during Ramadan and replaced with substantial amounts of rice. Who wants to slurp slurp when you can stuff stuff instead? KAWARE’ The ‘zaflata’ of the kaware' is reserved for post-Ramadan binging sessions. That's a given!

FETEER

Everyone who had feteer for iftar or sohour, speak now or forever hold your peace. Nobody? We guessed it. The pizza replica just didn't cut it for us during the holy month. We’re making amends now that Eid is here so bring on the feteer! (We totes wanted to rhyme)

KEBDA & SOGO2

Although they hold a dear place in our hearts, we didn't get a chance to binge on kebda and sogo2 during Ramadan simply because they come with a thirst that can only be quenched with a constant refill of fizzy drinks all throughout the following day. We don’t have to worry about that anymore.
