Egypt's First Gluten-Free Café Has Just Opened in Zamalek

If you’re trying to be healthy in Cairo, then you know how hard it is to go out to eat. Always trying to find food that you can eat without having to ask the waiter for the specific ingredients in everything, probably finding out that you can’t eat anything, and ending up feeling like every restaurant in Cairo is judging you for your dietary choices is the story of your life. Lucky for you then Sea Salt Bakery is finally opening shop in Zamalek.

The Sea Salt Bakery started making gluten free baked goodness back in 2015 as an online kitchen and have been going to events all over Cairo and we’ve been in love with them ever since. Now they’re opening their first bakery and café on Mansour Mohamed St. in Zamalek and we are so excited.

Founder and health enthusiast Passand El Hammami tells us "I wanted to give people actually good food without any junk in it, and I knew there was a market for it. People just eat junk because they can’t find anything that’s healthy and good." Everything is made fresh every day, literally. Their flour is milled in-house and their vegan butter is homemade.

Breakfast at Sea Salt Bakery is an endless mountain of goodness, and luckily it’s served every day. The SSB breakfast menu is as delicious as it is healthy, we recommend Konga’s Breakfast for some all-organic goodness to start your day and a cinnamon roll that won’t make you feel like you gained 4 pounds from just smelling it. And for lunch you should get a veggie burger on fresh homemade bread. Their fresh baguettes, loaves, toast, croissants, and danish pastries are just the tip of the iceberg that will always leave you wanting more.

See you there for Friday brunch because that’s defiantly where we’re going to be.
