Youssef Chahine's Restored and Digitised Films to be Screened in Zawya Cinema

Youssef Chahine is one of the finer wines when it comes to Egypt's film industry, and Zawya Cinema – soon to relaunch itself at a new location – will be screening 20 of his films from 12 September to 22 September.

Chahine: The Restoration Project” comes as a tribute to Chahine and his extensive contribution of 42 movies to Egypt’s film industry. This also comes as a commemoration of the tenth year following his death in 2008. Misr International Films - a film and TV company founded by Chahine in 1972 - is restoring the films by digitising them, and adding subtitles, making them all the more appealing for the modern-day audience.

Youssef Chahine's restoration project will be running for ten days, and is set to feature a range of exciting events such as workshops, discussions, and lectures. Egyptian director Basel Ramsis will be giving a lecture on Chahine’s development in the film industry.
