Egyptian Brand Sadafa Releases Stunning New Mother-Of-Pearl Clutch Collection
'Rise of the Orient' puts the pearl in the girl. Or whatever.
When we hear the word ‘orient’, our minds take us to another plane of existence, a plane where we vividly remember all the things we have not seen but somehow find familiar. Loose, flowing fabrics and impressive architecture particularly come to mind. And now, so will Sadafa with its new collection, ‘Rise of the Orient’.
One of Fashion Trust Arabia’s 25 finalists, Sadafa is no stranger to the Egyptian fashion scene, with collections like Afrique Mon Amour being especially lauded and the likes of Yousra, Hend Sabri and Amina Khalil among the Egyptian brand’s fans.
The collection is intended to pay homage to famed oriental architecture and Egyptian craftsmanship, with the statement clutches taking hand-drawn designs and making them wearable pieces of art.
Drawing its name from precious mother-of-pearl inlays, Sadafa incorporates its namesake well into its designs, with every piece different than the other, in a wide range of geometrical patterns and colours.
The artisans give every piece its due, accumulating a total 250 hours on one clutch. The process entails carefully hand-selecting and embossing the mother-of-pearl inlays, using different tools and hundred year-old generational cutting techniques.
