New 'Fan ID' Will be Mandatory For Entrance to African Nations Cup Matches

Following news of a new ticket-booking app for this year's African Nations Cup set to launch this week, the organising committee of the competition has further announced that fan IDs will be mandatory for entrance to the tournament's matches, which are set to take place between June 21st and July 19th.

Each fan ID, according to Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi, will enable its holder to buy up to five tickets to any single match, meaning that up to five people can get in on one fan ID.

Furthermore, Sobhi told Al Masry Al Youm that the new system will continue to be applied in all future football events, including the 2019/2020 season of the Egyptian Premier League. The minister added that the decision to implement the system comes after a similar system was successfully used in Russia for the 2018 World Cup.
