Ex-Real Madrid Star Michel Salgado has Joined Egypt National Team’s Coaching Staff

Former Real-Madrid star and 2 times UEFA Champions League winner Michel Salgado has joined the Egyptian football team’s technical staff, according to Kingfut.

The news was announced by the Egyptian Football Association in a press release on Monday, revealing that Salgado has been appointed as third assistant to recently-appointed manager Javier Aguirre, alongside Spanish assistant coach Tito Garcia Sanjuan, and Egyptian icon Hani Ramzi.

Currently, Egypt hasn’t won since October, and is on a miserable run of nine winless games, so newly-appointed Javier Aguirre will surely be keen to kick off his new adventure with a win over Niger in the African Cup of Nations qualification match. The game will be taking place on Saturday at 8 PM in Alexandria.

Even though it’s Salgado’s first job in management, his extensive football knowledge, experience, and work ethic can only be beneficial to a young squad like Egypt’s. He has been described by former Real Madrid teammate Steve McManaman as “the hardest person in the world…a genuine psychopath, even in training.” In recent years, Salgado has done punditry work for both Sky and Bein Sports. Having won four La Liga titles and 2 UEFA Champions league titles as a player, Salgado is no stranger to winning and will hopefully be able to positively influence a team that is seriously lacking in confidence.
