French Tourism to Egypt at its Highest in 7 Years

Egypt has officially reestablished its place as a top touristic destination within the African and Arab region, according to French travel magazine, TourMag. This is due to the steadily-increasing climate with regards to security and political stability; leading to a 146% increase in French tourists traveling to Egypt in 2018.

There has been a sharp increase in French tourists in recent years in Egypt; jumping from 600,000 tourists in 2010 to 700,000 in 2016. This demonstrates the progress of the country’s efforts to boost tourism, TourMag stated. “This increase of tourists’ number visiting Egypt is an outcome of the restoration of security, order and safety of travelers,” TourMag wrote.

For more reasons than one, Egypt has been suffering a sharp decline in tourism over the past seven years. Conflicts ranging from political uprisings to acts of tourism have stained Egypt’s touristic reputation, deeming it as a dangerous destination for foreigners. However, thanks to recent efforts, Egypt has been upping its rank in terms of safety—achieving the number one status as safest country in Africa—as well as attracting multiple foreign investments, and establishing several foreign relations and projects. Or it could have been the Friday French Sermons which attracted the surge of French tourists.
