Egyptian Doctors to Receive Training by the UK’s National Health Service

Egypt's Minister of Health, Dr. Hala Zayed, and British Ambassador to Egypt, Sir Geoffrey Adams, saw off 35 doctors at Cairo International Airport, who were selected for training in national health insurance systems in the UK as part of plans to improve Egypt's health insurance system, reports Akhbar El Youm.

Dr. Zayed emphasised the importance of investing in human resources and training them in accordance to international standards to ensure the success of Egypt's new health insurance system. The doctors, who are set to undergo a week of training, will be introduced to the dynamics of the UK's National Health Service (NHS) after which they will be expected to return and train staff in Egypt's hospitals.  This is the first in what is meant to be a series of ongoing training programmes.

According to Akhbar El Youm, Dr. Zayed also added that a British nurse will be appointed in each one of the hospitals using the new health insurance system, in order to train Egypt's nurses and ensure that the new system is conforming to international standards.

The NHS s considered to be one of the best worldwide and ranks in the top 25 on the World Health Organization's ranking list.
