Egyptian Bishop Leads First Ever Coptic Mass in Saudi Arabia

For the first time ever, a Coptic Sunday mass was held in Saudi Arabia, led by Egyptian Bishop Ava Morkos of Shobra El Kheima. The historic mass comes after Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman extended an invite to the Coptic clergy during his trip to Egypt in March, reports Al Watan.

The mass was held over two days in a house belonging to a Coptic resident in Saudi Arabia, where a number of Coptic families were invited. Bishop Ava Markos, who has been in Saudi Arabia since Monday, is said to have brought the required items and objects with him from Cairo.

The Bishop also met with Seceratary General of the Muslim World League, Muhammad bin Abdul Karim, Egyptian ambassador, Osama al-Nugali, and members of the Egyptian diaspora in Riyadh, with a view to fostering relationships between the Coptic Church.
