Egypt are Squash World Champions Once Again, Holding the Squash WSF Women's World Team Title

Egypt has retained the WSF Women’s World Team Title in squash in Dalian, China after defeating England in the final, according to WWTsquash on Twitter.

The Egyptians were victorious 2-0 after Nour Gohar beat Allison Waters three games to two, and world number 2 Raneem El Welily defeated Laura Massaro three games to one in 36 minutes.

In the semi-final, our ladies overcame surprise opponents Hong Kong, who defeated number 3 seeds USA in the quarter-finals. Raneem El Welily easily defeated Joey Chan in straight games, while world number 1 Nour El Sherbini had an uncharacteristic loss to top-ranked Hong Kong player Annie Au. Nour El Tayeb was there to save the day, however, defeating event debutant Lee Ka Yi in straight games.

This was the fifth time in seven years that Egypt face England in the final of the WSF Women’s World Team Squash championship, highlighting their long and fierce rivalry. In 2017, it was the same story as Egypt also beat England in the final in Marseille, France.
