Egypt Plummet 20 Places in FIFA's World Rankings

It’s no secret that Egypt had a lousy World Cup and, while we were starting to forget, we have a most painful a reminder – due to our poor performances in the tournament, Egypt fell down 20 places to 65th in FIFA’s latest rankings.

It comes as no surprise though; Egypt was statistically the second worst performing team in the tournament in Russia, not managing to gain a single point in 3 games against Uruguay, Russia, and Saudi Arabia. We would become one of only two teams not to gain a single point, alongside Panama, who were competing in the competition for the first time.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom; hopes are high with the appointment of new manager, Javier Aguirre, who will be looking to stir things up in his first assignment next month in Egypt’s African Nations Cup qualifier at home to Niger.
