Youssra to be Honoured at Cairo Days for Arab Drama at Paris’ Arab World Institute

The Arab World Institute in Paris, capital of all things fancy, will soon host the ‘Cairo Days for Drama’ festival that will see 50 of the most influential personas of Arab drama come together to network and pave the way for further opportunities for Arab productions and artistic collaborations. Queen of Egyptian cinema Youssra has been selected as a guest of honour in recognition of her priceless work towards wholly enriching Egyptian cinema. The festival is organized by ‘Culture Without Borders’ and will run from February 16th to February 19th.

This year, the event will honour the memory of the late Farid Shawqi in recognition of his myriad of contributions for Egyptian cinema on the centenary of his birth year. His daughter Rania Farid Shawqi will be in attendance.

The sessions will kick off with a documentary about the value of Egyptian and Arab cinema, as well as its undeniable societal, cultural and intellectual impact. It will also host a set of seminars by filmmakers, artists and producers in the presence of esteemed film critics and journalists both from Europe as well as the MENA region, with the general aim of promoting cultural tourism across the region. The event is expected to see quite the line-up of the Arab world’s top stars like Laila Eloui, Asser Yassin, Ragaa El-Gedawy, Amr Youssef and Dorra.

The 'Culture Without Borders' association works towards developing the film industry throughout the Arab world, especially for countries that lack a strong cinematic presence. They regularly organise production, photography and writing workshops, and also support young budding Arab filmmakers.
