World-Famous Opera Carmen to Screen at Manasterly Palace

Sometimes a cigar maker, sometimes a smuggler; this time, on a big screen in the historic Manasterly Palace.

The French Institute in Cairo kicks off its French week on Monday, March 9th with a screening of the legendary opera 'Carmen' in Cairo’s Manasterly Palace. A Festival d’Aix-en-Provence production, the staging of Dmitri Tcherniakov and the musical direction of Pablo Heras-Casado pave the way for a new contemporary vision of the world’s most renowned opera.

Georges Bizet’s world of immorality, lawlessness, love, and death in Carmen evolves into strong emotion in Tcherniakov’s take, bringing the myth to life in Cairo.

The screening is free and will be shown in French, with French subtitles.
