World Blood Donor Day

Every year, on June 14th, countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day. The event, which is organised by World Health Organization (WHO), serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood.

This year (which happens to be the 10th anniversary of World Blood Donor Day) our favourite Japanese sushi place - Mori Sushi, and our favourite Lebanese restaurant - Tamara Bistro, are proudly partaking in this charity event which is to be held at the Zamalek Aquarium Grotto Garden AKA Fish Gardens this Friday, as the two partnering restaurants cater and sponsor the event for a good cause.

2000 to 4000 people are expected to attend this event including a long list of A-star celebrities, such as the likes of Youssra, Elham Shahin, Ezzat Abu Auf, Ragaa El Gedawy, Hany Ramzy, and Fathy Abd El Wahab, just to name a few. The event will also be covered by media including well-known TV channels; CBC, ON TV, El Haya, and Nahar.

For more information about the day check out the Facebook event here.

You can also follow @MoriSushiEgypt and @TamaraBistro on Twitter to stay in the know on the day as they live tweet the event. And we suggest you do, because this event looks like it’s going to be a bloody good one (pun not intended).

One last thing. In light of World Blood Donor Day’s 10th anniversary, we encourage everyone to donate blood whenever they possibly can. It really does save lives.

Give the gift of life: donate blood.
