Why Did this Zamalek Player’s Shirt Just Get Sold for 80K?

Zamalek footballer Tarek Hamed has reportedly had one of his jerseys sold for a whopping LE80,000— and we don’t mean this in a bad way but… why?

It's actually a sweet story. Hamed put the jersey up for sale at a charity auction for Mersal Foundation, which he’s been collaborating with for some time now. Apparently, at the end of every tournament he wins, the player donates the jersey he wore to the foundation so the foundation can raise a sum amount after it is auctioned off. This last jersey, though, garnered a ridiculous amount of money as a result of the Zamalek victory over Al Ahly in the Egyptian Super Cup, which will then go towards the construction of a children's hospital and to help the disabled. Even the most ardent Ahly fan would admit that's a pretty big win for everyone. What’s your take on the jersey sitch? Let us know in the comments below.
