What’s up with McDonald’s and their spelling mistakes? We mean honestly? As a bunch of third culture kids, who actually don’t really know that much Arabic, we actually know how to spell basic words (not really but we know how to use spell check!).

That’s actually the first thing that came to mind when we saw that this social media personality, this personality, and that personality point out the mistake on their donation boxes, but it turns out they did it on purpose.

McDonald’s have had that donation box on their counter for over a decade now, but no one really paid any attention to it. But since making that mistake, everyone looks down at the box to see the misspelled word, and maybe even put in a few pounds after ordering some French fries and soft ice-cream to go.

Using the donations collected from the box, McDonald’s put that money into good use. They put all of the donated change into developing schools and nurseries for the young ones in Ezbet Khier Allah.

Say what you will about McDonald’s but there are two things we know for sure: 1. McDonald’s make really good French fries and 2. They really know how to trick Egyptians into donating for a good cause.
