‘Welad Rizk 2’ Breaks Record for Highest One-Day Box Office Revenues In Egyptian Cinema History

Cinemas across Egypt must have been packed to the rim last Saturday, because one of Eid Al-Adha’s most anticipated movie releases, Welad Rizk 2, has just entered the proverbial record books of Egyptian cinema.

On said Saturday, the day before Eid, the film earned a whopping EGP 8.4 million – the highest ever one-day box office return in Egypt.

Written by Salah Al Jehini and directed by Tarek El Erian, the film stars Ahmed Ezz, Amr Youssef, Ahmed Dawood, Ahmed el Fishawi, Mohammed Mamdouh, and Karim Kassem, and tells the story of five brothers embroiled in the world of crime.

The first film was released in 2014 and was a commercial success, leading to Khaled el-Sawy and Bassem Samra joining the cast for the sequel.
