Viking Heads East to El Rehab

Heliopolis favourite, Viking, opens up their second ever branch, invading City Square Mall this month.

Viking Heads East to El Rehab

So in the latest foodie news in the city, Viking, the restaurant, which has absolutely nothing to do with actual Vikings, is set to open another branch in El Rehab City Square Mall, which should come as seriously joyous news to all you humans living in that far flung side of the city. The Heliopolis eatery is the perfect place for a big ol’ stuff-your-face-endlessly meal. It’s one of those places that just has everything, ever, from succulent steaks to seafood to spaghetti. Breakfast to juicy burgers – it’s all there. It even has a whole Tex-Mex section with some sizzling fajita options.

It still has absolutely nothing to do with Vikings. We’ve pondered their logo for many, many moons now. We doubt they had Dijon Mustard Steak and Chicken BBQ Pizza back in the day. Perhaps the founders thought to put an imposing Nordic Viking man in the logo would encourage you to have a good old fashioned hearty meal, y’know, around the hearth and stuff. Or maybe not. Wait, didn’t Vikings just sail around and pillage stuff? There were probably no hearths to speak of. Perhaps it was meant to reflect their adventurous spirit. Actually, maybe – and we might be getting warmer here – it was intended to reflect the raging appetite of these seafaring hotties (in our minds all Vikings are hot and look just like Eric Northman from True Blood or something like Thor). We think we’re onto something; perhaps you’re meant to match the eating abilities of an actual viking. We will SEE your Chicken Quesadilla and raise you three mozzarella cheese sticks, one Smoked Salmon Sandwich, and a Rib-Eye Steak. Hell yes, we are always up for the challenge of eating. Maybe we should get off our tangent about Vikings.

Moving on, the important thing to take away from this is that they’ll be opening up in City Square Mall (Gate 6) this month, serving up their signature storm of epic international cuisines. A giant meal at Viking just so happens to be the perfect end to a day of shopping. Shopping is exercise and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. It builds up an appetite like no other, so after you’ve hit up your favourite stores, done some window shopping, and just generally walked your way around the giant mall, you clearly need to regain your strength with a meal. Clearly. Viking will be waiting, with steak and shrimp.
