Uber At Riseup: Pitches, International Speakers, And The Coolest Swag

Speedy, on-demand car hailing startup Uber, which has taken the rest of the world by storm in the past couple of years, is hitting the RiseUp Summit with a bag full of surprises.

Re-formulating their now celebrated Pitch N’ Ride, the global giant is giving startups a chance to shine in front of some of the MENA region’s most successful investors, though this year there are no more limousines. Uber is going classic with vintage cars that will be voyaging around Tahrir Square on Friday the 9th. Ten selected entrepreneurs will get the opportunity to ride around Cairo’s iconic square for 10 minutes accompanied by an investor, and with just the duration of the ride to pitch their startup and get investment.

But classy rides will not only take place in vintage cars. As the summit's official transport partner, Uber will give free rides to and from The GrEEK Campus to every participant using the promo code RiseUp2016 during the three days. Yes, that means you too. And that's not all there is to it. Their own Uber booth will be the hotspot for giveaways and Uber swag, as the company will be giving out stress balls so that you can unwind and decompress, as well as popcorn! Because, why watch a talk differently than the cinema, right?

The globally buzzing startup, one of the platinum sponsors of the entrepreneurial summit, is also bringing some of its savviest top-level executives to inspire and mentor the Middle East's budding entrepreneurial crowd. Head of operations for Europe, Middle East and Africa Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty will be giving a session about the future of urban mobility on December 9th at The GrEEK Campus’ main stage. Passionate about the tech industry and with years of experience at Goldman Sachs, Gore-Coty was one of the earliest members of the Uber family, running the company’s first international city as General Manager for France in 2012.

Another prominent speaker hitting the summit will be Uber's Middle East and Africa General Manager Anthony Le Roux, a seasoned entrepreneur who started his career at Standard Bank, and was the first general manager in Cape Town. Le Roux will be a keynote speaker at the key ecosystem panel, taking place on the Greek Stage on Friday, December 9th. Egypt's General Manager, Tino Waked, as well as the country's Head of Marketing Nour Ahmadein, will also be taking the RiseUp stage.
