US in Santa Spy Scandal

The US government is embroiled in yet another spy scandal – this time with Santa. The latest shocking revelation shows that the US military has been following Father Christmas since under the guise of NORAD weather satellite system.

The top secret system, which monitors the man in red as he flies around the world delivering presents on Christmas Eve is thought to date back as far as 1954. The news has sparked fears that many leading government figures including US President Barack Obama could find themselves on St. Nick's naughty list.

The system can monitor the speed at which St Nick is travelling along with his exact location. Relations are traditionally frosty between the North Pole and the US following Bill Clinton's affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky in 1998 and George W Bush's decision to lie about weapons of mass destruction before invading Iraq in 2004.

However relations thawed between the North pole and the US following the election of President Obama. But the latest spy scandal coupled with the president's refusal to shut the US military detention facility and continued drone strikes on Yemen could see the Commander in Chief permanently in Santa's black books.

Meanwhile, senior North Pole sources have refused to confirm whether ousted President Morsi or possible future President Sisi are on the naughty or nice list. It also remains unclear whether Israel will allow Santa to deliver presents to children in Gaza this year – where they operate a crippling land, sea and air blockade leaving many struggling to survive.

However, a North Pole spokesperson last night confirmed that the jolly fat man will be visiting all CairoScene readers tonight.
