Egypt Among Seven Countries to Attend UN's Syria Peace Process Talks

A spokeswoman from the United Nations office in Geneva released a statement, calling representatives from Egypt, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UK, and the US to meet with the United Nations envoy and discuss Syria’s situation on September 14.

This decision comes after the first meeting – which was held in June, and included all aforementioned participants besides Egypt; it will be the first time our country gets represented in the Syrian peace process talks. For next month, UN Envoy Staffan De Mistura has invited the eight countries to further tackle the subject on Syria's peace process.

“This is going to be an opportunity to discuss the way ahead on the political process,” UN spokeswoman Alessandra Vellucci said.

According to the United Nations website, the topic of Syria has been discussed “33 times” throughout 2017, proving to be quite difficult to overcome due to the divided responses that come with shaping a new constitution.
