Trial Operations Begin Ahead of Imminent Opening of New Administrative Capital’s Airport

Egypt's Ministry of Civil Aviation has announced that it will start trial operations at the soon-to-be inaugurated airport at the New Administrative Capital. Following the inspection of the buildings and facilities, the trial run will test luggage areas, terminals, passport counters, airstrips, air traffic control and security.

“The ministry has finalised all the needed facilities attached to guarantee passengers’ comfort, and the airport is ready for the trial run,” Head of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, Mohamed Mahrous, said.

Built across 5,000 sqm, the 45-building airport's prerogative is to allow for easy access between Egypt’s governorates, while also easing the pressure off Cairo International airport, which is the second busiest airport in Africa after Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa.
