Tokyo Olympics Removes Egypt from List of Medical Warnings

Egypt’s delegation to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games will no longer have to quarantine for three days upon arrival, after Tokyo’s Olympic Organising Committee removed the country from its medical warnings and restrictions list.

The games are set to commence on July 23rd, after they were cancelled following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic . This was the first time the main Olympic Games event has been cancelled outside of a world war. It will be an Olympics unlike any other, as no international fans will be permitted to travel to the games, and a 50% crowd capacity cap will be imposed and made-up entirely of Japanese fans.

There remain concerns about the impact of thousands of travellers into Japan on the country’s COVID-19 situation, but after careful assessment, it was determined that Egypt’s situation was improving to the point that it no longer warranted quarantine measures.

Athletes and personnel will still be subject to testing upon arrival, and must comply with strict social distancing regulations throughout the games.
