Three-Year Construction of Monorail System Linking Egypt’s New Capital to Cairo Begins

Egypt’s Ministry of Transportation has announced that as of August 1st, construction on a monorail system linking the New Administrative Capital to Cairo’s Nasr City is in action, according to Daily News Egypt, with Al Shorouk reporting that the €3bn project will take 36 months to complete.

This is in addition to another monorail system which will link 6th of October City to Giza, with Canadian company, Bombadier, set to partner up with Egypt's Orascom Construction and Arab Contractors.

Bombardier Inc. is reputable in the field, having developed the above-ground, driverless Innovia Monorail, which it said will be the same ones that will be used in Egypt. They travel at 80 km/hour and, with 300 of them set to be delivered to Egypt, can accommodate as much as 48,000 passengers.
