Three-Month Export Ban On Surgical Masks And Alcohol Used For Disinfectants

The Ministry of Trade and Industry has announced a three-month ban on exports of alcohol (mainly used to make disinfectants and antiseptics) and surgical masks in order to tend to the increased demand for these items in the local market. The announcement came hot on the heels of the discovery that a single undisclosed company was inadvertently wiping out local stock by exporting large quantities of these vital items in recent weeks. Naturally the news - while necessary - comes as another blow to the wider export and production sectors who are already suffering. However the Ministry has assured the market that they’re working on several support and revitalisation measures which they say are to be announced soon.
