Homegrown sports events management company The TriFactory are bringing the world’s top Obstacle Course Race, the Tough Mudder, to Egypt! This is the first time Egypt will host the event, and since The TriFactory is now the official licensee for Tough Mudder in Egypt, the event is set to return for many years to come.

Tough Mudder, Inc. hold events on five out of the world’s six habitable continents, and Egypt will be the 16th country worldwide to host one, as well as the first in North Africa. The partnership between the two parties is paving the way for several events to be hosted here, with the first taking place on December 13th and 14th, 2019 in ZED, Sheikh Zayed, Cairo.

As there are several variations and formats of races that vary according to level, duration and intensity, they will start with the shorter and more accessible Tough Mudder 5 km format - with 13 unique market-leading and top-rated obstacles. The longer-course formats will begin at the start of next year, depending on local demand.

Not only will this collaboration open up access to events and initiatives, but it attract adrenaline-junkies from all over the world to Egypt, ‘seeking the challenge, camaraderie and thrills that only a Tough Mudder experience can offer’. The Tough Mudder has more than four million participants across five continents under their belts to date and licensed events have been hosted in the likes of South Africa, Mexico, Ireland, Australia, Philippines and the United Arab Emirates.

“Due to the exponential growth of participants attending mass participation events, Egypt strategically has all the elements to grow and expand the Tough Mudder community. The events will be organised by a team of professionals with multi-year experience,” Johnny Little, VP of Tough Mudder, said.

The TriFactory was founded in 2015 by Ayman Hakky and has since become Egypt's leading sports events management company and athletic hub. Being introduced to triathlon was what first got the sports-enthusiast to start vouching and organising Train For Aim, offering fitness sessions across the capital and later developing the idea into The TriFactory.
