The Coolest Girls on Wheels: Don’t Miss the Cairollers Roller Derby Clash on February 1st

On Saturday, February 1st, the Cairollers will play a friendly bout at the Cairo Stadium. The event will take place from 3 pm to 4 pm. Cairollers, the first and only all-female roller derby in Egypt, was founded in 2012 by American roller derby players, Angie Kaster and Shaneikiah Bickham. The game on Saturday will celebrate visiting UAE-based all-star roller derby players, who will be taking part in the game.

Roller Derby is a full-contact sport played on quad skates and is considered one of the fastest-growing female sports in the world. The players are all in their 20s and 30s, but they welcome any woman over the age of 18 to try out. The inspiration behind the formation of the derby was the founders’ realization that there weren’t enough sports opportunities for women over 18 years old. The team will be playing their first-ever away derby game, as part of the A Frican Good Time competition taking place in Johannesburg on March 14th.

Tickets will be available for 100 EGP at the door, and anyone under the age of 10 can enter for free.
