Tamer Hosny Picked as Ambassador with Extreme E's Race for the Planet

Pop icon Tamer Hosny has been chosen as the global ambassador for Extreme E, an innovative racing series that sees electric SUVs compete in extreme environments around the world which have already been damaged or affected by climate and environmental issues. Think of it like a super green and environmentally conscious version of Mad Max: Fury Road. The series’ ‘Race for the Planet’ took off on February 19th in Saudi Arabia’s NEOM.

Hosny has already entered the Guinness Book of Records twice by organizing campaigns for a variety of causes. In 2016, he broke his first world record with a wide-scale blood donation campaign called the ‘Pulse of Life’. In 2019, he broke his second record for most contributions to a bulletin board in Abu Dhabi, where his fans left over 12,000 notes for him at Marina Mall.

For its part, Extreme E works alongside local experts, governments and NGOs to implement initiatives in each race location they choose, dependent on its unique needs, including a turtle conservation project along the Red Sea coastline, the planting of one million mangroves in Senegal, cocoa agroforestry and Amazon conservation in Brazil, and the creation of a climate education syllabus for over 3,500 school children in Greenland with UNICEF.

Following NEOM, the Extreme E series will continue on to Italy, Scotland, UK or Senegal, and Chile before its finale in Uruguay this November.
