Tahrir Square To Receive Upgrade to Light Installations Courtesy of Misr for Sound and Light
The upgrade is part of a larger plan to make the square more appealing to tourists.
The Misr for Sound and Light company have begun the first stage of upgrading Tahrir Square's light systems and placing light installations that are meant to turn the district into a visually stunning spectacle at night.
The first stage of the project will upgrade the Egyptian Museum and its garden, alongside Tahrir Square and its obelisk. The second stage will work on the facades of the buildings surrounding Tahrir Square, so that the district's Khedivial architecture will have their own personal spotlight shining on them.
The project is part of a larger plan to transform Tahrir Square into a tourist hub. Four sphinxes have recently been moved towards the square in order to make the area more attractive for visitors to Egypt. How do you feel about these decisions to update Tahrir Square for the tourism industry? Let us know in the comments below.
