Sheikh Zayed City Gets a Monitoring Station to Fight Air Pollution

The first air quality monitoring station in Sheikh Zayed City will help Egypt be better equipped to assess the emissions of factories around the clock, and alert the relevant facilities should any factory exceed its emission limit.

Looking to combat Egypt’s prominent air pollution problem head on, the Ministry of Environment has just installed the first air quality monitoring station in Sheikh Zayed City, bringing the total number of air quality monitoring stations to 108 across the country. The Ministry of Environment confirmed that, through this newly-established air quality monitoring station, they will be better equipped to assess the emissions of factories around the clock, and be able to alert the relevant facilities should any factory exceed its emission limit.

Air quality monitoring stations are  designed to accurately assess air quality, in addition to identifying the main sources of pollution and the changes in the levels of pollutants in the air throughout the day, month and year. In doing so, these stations ultimately provide air pollution data to support the government in coming up with certain air quality goals, contribute to air pollution research and evaluate the impact of their efforts to control emissions.
