Safinaz Wanted by Egypt Fashion Police

In the latest of Egyptian court room absurdities, prosecutors are looking to punish belly dancer Safinaz, accusing her of defaming the Egyptian flag. The Armenian hip-shaker has seen her fair share of controversy over the years, most recently being put behind bars for breaching a contract. Public opinion tends to be split when it comes to the bootylicious babe, but apparently her appearance at an Ain El Sokhna resort last week was just too much for the audience to handle as a police report filed by angry citizens demands she be reprimanded... for wearing the Egyptian flag.

In June, Adly Mansour increased the punishment for anyone thought to be defaming Egypt's national flag or anthem, and those who caught Safinaz shaking her stuff in a sheer flag-coloured number are looking for the maximum penalty; up to a year in prison and a 30,000LE fine.

Meanwhile, we wonder if Cate Blanchett will be testifying in a Cairo court near you soon...
