Route to Sharm El Sheikh to Include Electronic Inspections on Cars

To accommodate the 35,000 visitors from all over the world - including heads of state, dignitaries, activists, and businesspeople - as they arrive in Sharm El Sheikh for the COP27 UN Climate Change Conference, the governorate of South Sinai are taking measures to make the route towards the resort town greener, smarter and more secure.

With the ring road already harbouring a security fence supplemented with an 18-metre long mesh section, cars entering Sharm El Sheikh will now undergo a full inspection using electronic means.

The four gates leading to Sharm El Sheikh have been equipped with high-quality devices that can detect drugs and contraband. Cameras have also been installed in all domestic taxis, linking to a general security observatory that keeps track of all internal on-goings. The newly-installed audio-visual system actively works to prevent any conflict with or harassment towards tourists.
