Saudi Arabia Employs First Robot Receptionist

Saudi Arabia's Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) has hired the country's first robot employee as part of Vision 2030, which aims to promote he development of public services, infrastructure, and diversification of the economy, as reported by Sky News Arabia.

The new employee, named Teqany (Technical), has been employed as a receptionist and was handed his/her new job by the Saudi Minister of Education, Ahmed Al-Eissa. Teqany's job description includes customer service, conducting surveys and delivering messages. Welcoming the minister in typical robo-voice, Teqany promised to be the perfect employee, which was met with applause from the minister and his entourage.

Teqany has also been employed to welcome and usher in visitors at the 33rd Janadriyah Festival, which opened last Thursday, during which Saudi Arabia celebrates its heritage and history.
