PBS Hosts Free Event to Spread Awareness of Kids With Special Needs

Based in Sheikh Zayed, Progressive Behaviour Services (PBS) is a children's centre that provides a wide range of supportive services to youths with physical and developmental disabilities and special needs, such as autism, dyslexia, ADHD and others. On February 18th, PBS is holding a free event to help promote education on these conditions, and the need to spread awareness of their needs.

Taking place at Rayah Holding's Training Centre in Sheikh Zayed, PBS's Special Needs Event invites interested parents, teachers and caretakers to attend a day full of talks by professionals in the field.

Board certified behaviour analysts Menna Mahrous and Mariam Azzazi will speak about how educators can teach using applied behaviour analysis (ABA), while education specialists Malak El Batran and Sherry Maher, and therapist Nazli El Leithy, will talk about learning difficulties and special education.

Speech and language therapist Mona Enan will lift the veil on her field, while paediatrics assistant lecturer Dr. Ramy Nasser will discuss child development and milestones. Meanwhile, educators Dr. Haidy Karem and Aalaa El Masry, and Hope and Beyond founder Rania Abdel Aziz, will share their personal experiences of raising individuals with differences, while Magdy Shahir - a motivational speaker who was born with cerebral palsy - will speak at length about his journey through life, having been named one of the American University in Cairo's most influential alumni of the century, and the recipient of the Cambridge Award in 2008.

While attendance of the event is free, guests must register beforehand.
