'Osboro' Because This Classic Egyptian Hand Gesture is Getting its own Emoji

It's not a stretch to say that Egyptians, and Arabs in general, are some of the most expressive, heated and emotional people on the planet. We want to be loud and clear, and we also make sure our hand gestures express what we really mean, because animated self-expression is where it's at.

So, we were super excited to hear that the pinching fingers emoji will be available on the next Emoji update (13.0), as announced by the Unicode Consortium on their Twitter. Yes, the Italians are excited as well but we will continue to call dibs on this hand gesture forever.

A little more digging has revealed that Arabs have apparently been rigorously campaigning to add this emoji to the list for years, , and honestly, it's about time. You know it's getting real when your parents use it in public to say "hawareek ama nerawa7," or maybe you direct it towards someone who's super in love with the sound of their own voice to the point where they just won't shut up and let you speak. So, good news for all.
