One of the Oldest Mosques in Egypt Reopens in Damanhur
Al Tawba Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Egypt, has been fully restored at a cost of EGP 1.5 million, and will soon reopen alongside 12 other mosques in Damanhur. Al Tawba Mosque was built by Amr Ibn Al As, the Arab commander who brought Islam to Egypt and gave his name to the country’s actual oldest mosque, the Amr Ibn Al As Mosque.
