Old Cairo's Al Fustat to Get New Park by the NMEC

Building on the resplendent revamp of the historic Ain El Sira Lake, redevelopments will continue throughout Old Cairo’s Al Fustat to turn the entire locale into a world-class tourist hub.

Amidst the frenzied excitement of the #GoldenPharaohsParade and the opening of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) it seems more upgrades, renovations and restoration work are under way in the once-neglected areas in and around Fustat.

Building on the resplendent revamp of the historic Ain El Sira Lake -  a 265,000-square-metre development project that includes the NMEC - redevelopments will continue throughout Old Cairo’s Al Fustat in a bid to turn the entire locale into a world-class tourist hub. While exact details are yet to be released, we’re told the plans currently include the creation of ‘Al Fustat Park’ boasting lush greenery, leisure and entertainment facilities around the museum.
