Oh Crap, Egypt’s Population Becomes 100 Million This Month

Dear God, help us. Egypt’s noisy, congested streets look like they’re sticking by us as Om El-Donia’s population is on its way to reach 100 million this very month. Frankly, like so many Egyptians we’re terrified, which is why rapid population growth has been outlined as one of the country’s top challenges. A startling 97% of Egyptians live in only 8% of the country’s land— talk about hoarding. Combatting this growth, is the governmental campaign “Two is Enough,” that challenges the trend of large families in rural Egypt as well the new administrative capital which will hopefully help spread congestion into the Greater Cairo area. 

For now, we can all watch as the Heliopolis population growth sign continues to rise, raising both the number and the blood pressure of Egyptians with it.
