Nokia Will Start Producing Their First Made-in-Egypt Smartphones

Global mobile manufacturer, Nokia, will begin production on the company's first ‘Made-in-Egypt’ smartphones.

Nokia Mobile - the caretaker of the Nokia brand for mobile phones, tablets, and accessories - has agreed to create one million cell phones, including feature phones and smartphones, with Egypt's Etisalat for Advanced Industries in the first year of production.

This move is part of a larger initiative called ‘Egypt Makes Electronics’, which aims to promote the electronics industry as one of the biggest pillars of the growth of the Egyptian economy, by contributing to the increase of Egyptian exports, seeking to reduce imports of electronic devices to the local market, and creating job opportunities for hundreds of thousands of engineers and technicians.
