New Solar Grid to Power Marsa Alam Resorts

Egyptian energy and utility provider KarmSolar is launching a huge solar grid in Marsa Alam, a first-of-its-kind regional energy system that would supply 10MW electricity to nearby resorts.

During the first phase of the Marsa Alam Solar Grid, power will be distributed to five resorts in North Marsa Alam, with one more to be added during the second phase of the project. The third phase will see an extension to South Marsa Alam, with two resorts added to the grid.

Cost for grid connections per resort will cost somewhere between EGP 5 million to EGP 9 million, depending on the distance from the national grid. Each resort will receive a dedicated photovoltaic solar energy plant to replace diesel generators, courtesy of KarmSolar.
