New Axis to Link Mokattam to National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation

Dubbed the ‘Civilisation Axis’, a new route is being established across Cairo, one that will connect the El Mokattam Plateau to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation in El Fustat, as well as the historic Ain El Sera nighbourhood and the Nile Corniche in Maadi.

As a result, the old axis that currently leads to El Mokattem through Salah Salem Street will be expanded to five lanes in both directions, ensuring that any new traffic to and from the Civilisation Axis runs as smoothly as possible

The announcement was made following a meeting between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Presidential Adviser for Urban Planning, Amir Sayed, and other senior officials, who also discussed upgrading roads in Sinai, particularly the route between Nuweiba and Taba, as well roads around St. Catherine Airport.
